The People’s Cinematic Voices

Your opportunity to sing at Silents by the Sea

Would you like to perform music for film at this June’s Silents by the Sea festival?

A chorus of voices will join the Silents by the Sea improvising musicians to provide musical accompaniment to some of the short films in our Marvellous Méliès event on Sunday afternoon, 9th June, at Morecambe Winter Gardens.

The People’s Cinematic Voices is open to everyone - whether or not you think you can sing. Local vocal facilitator Janet Swan will lead free, fun workshops in Morecambe and Lancaster which will get everybody ready for the festival weekend itself.

No previous experience is necessary. You can go to just one session, or more than one. It’s fine to go along just to see if you like it - and then decide whether to do more.

Morecambe sessions

Tuesday 21 May, 4pm - 6.15pm, and Saturday 25 May, 10.30am - 12.30pm, at More Music, 13 - 17 Devonshire Road, Morecambe, LA3 1QT.

Lancaster sessions

20 May, 27 May & 3 June, 5.30pm - 7pm at the Gregson Arts Centre, 33-35 Moorgate, Lancaster, LA1 3PY.

Over the festival weekend itself, Saturday 8th June and Sunday 9th June, internationally renowned vocal improviser Guillermo Rozenthuler will lead final sessions, leading up to the performance on Sunday 9th June.
